Our Caravan Set Up Tips
Here are our tried and tested 6 steps to a simple caravan set up.
Make sure the caravan is LEVEL
Before you do anything else, ensure the Caravan is LEVEL!! Having a level RV will ensure you have a comfortable night’s sleep (no one likes a lopsided bed) and all water will drain from your showers & sinks efficiently. Each of our caravans are equipped with a level on the draw bar and levelling ramps in the tunnel boot. These two pieces of equipment will enable you to get the level of the caravan just right.
Have enough H2O
There’s nothing worse than being Off Grid for a few days without enough water! Always ensure your water tanks are full before leaving your last destination. Bottled drinking water is also a must as many remote towns only have bore water which isn’t suitable for drinking. Your water level can be easily monitored by checking the water tank gauges located in the caravan.
Know your power capacity
All of our caravans are fitted with Solar Panels which recharge the batteries. The weather and where you park your caravan will determine the rate of which the batteries will recharge. For example if it’s a rainy day or if you park under a tree, the solar panels aren’t going to get enough sunlight resulting in less solar input.
Switch on your hot water
Your hot water system needs to be switched on at every camp spot. Ensuring you switch this on as soon as you arrive will mean a hot shower at the end of the day. There are hot water switches in every caravan and it’s as simple as flicking the switch to power up either the electric element or pilot light for the gas. All Hot Water Systems across our caravans require approx 1 hour to heat up. (except for the Savannah X)
Fridge/freezer power up
Similarly to the HWS the Fridge/Freezer will need to be told if it’s running off Gas, 240V or Battery (except for the Savannah & Tanami which run consistently off battery). All fridges have a control panel and it’s as simple as selecting the setting to suit your camping facilities.
Have a cold beer ready
Step 6 is the most important – Have a cold beer ready!! You’re on holidays after all & it’s 5 o’clock somewhere right?! Cheers!!
